Washington in Red | Original Painting

"True liberty is not reserved for the few, it breathes where truth dares to exist." George Washington is reimagined in drag as a tribute to the strength and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community. The vibrant geometric forms and deep red tones symbolize courage, transformation and pride, celebrating the freedom to exist and the power to redefine history through love and inclusion.

The ornate baroque frame is part of the work, echoing the grandeur of classical portraiture while sharply contrasting the defiant subject within.

Shantay, We Will Stay! reimagines historic icons of freedom as bold, defiant drag queens, honoring transgender lives at a time when their existence is under attack. Through sharp shapes and vibrant colors, the series celebrates the power to be, and the strength and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community. They tried to erase us. So I painted us louder.
