Gandhi | Original Painting

"Stand still, stand firm, and refuse to disappear." Mahatma Gandhi is reimagined in drag, his quiet strength rendered in full color. The man who changed history without raising a hand becomes a reminder that resistance does not need violence to be powerful. Here, peaceful protest becomes a bold act of visibility.

The ornate baroque frame is part of the work, echoing the grandeur of classical portraiture while sharply contrasting the defiant subject within.

Shantay, We Will Stay! reimagines historic icons of freedom as bold, defiant drag queens, honoring transgender lives at a time when their existence is under attack. Through sharp shapes and vibrant colors, the series celebrates the power to be, and the strength and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community. They tried to erase us. So I painted us louder.
